Minearth is a location-based augmented-reality sandbox game. The real world is the 3D playground. You can play in single-player mode or enter an unlimited MMO universe. Mobile gameplay makes up the core functionality but Desktop gameplay will be possible in the near future. In contrast to Minecraft, Minearth uses the real world as it’s playground instead of generating a virtual world. Voxels build by players are hosted in the cloud as a data layer.
Minecraft is a sandbox game. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes, voxels, in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available.
